Re: a thought ladies
My NP was all chatty during insertion of second Mirena last March. When I specifically asked about the side effects, especially severe ones, she dismissed me by saying that they were rare. She is the same NP who dismissed my symptoms as Mirena related in Dec. at removal.
She told me about the training she had, had, how wonderful people think Mirena is, how she inserted so many, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Pumping herself and Mirena all up. Then BAM! Excruciating PAIN. The damn thing would not go in. She blamed it on me, my body having just had one removed must have closed up my cervix to not let anything in. She tried again, BAM! She did this ONE MORE TIME, before going to get other NP, who was an expert at this type of insertion?! This NP had no problem and did not cause any pain.
After this situation my original NP was all flustered and making excuses, mainly saying it was my body's reaction. I don't know that she didn't know symptoms, or what she was doing, so much as she is PRO-MIRENA, and confident in herself and her practice. She was the one who convinced me to get the thing in the first place.
I would be interested in hearing what other Dr.'s and NP's said to others with regard to training for insertion and side effects of Mirena.
