Effective tapeworm medication is available by prescription from your vet. Over the counter treatments will not work.

In addition, flea control needs to be kept up as the tapeworms are passed onto pets by fleas. Products such as Advantage or Frontline are reccomended.

A stool sample should also be checked for other potential parasite infestations as they cannot be detected unless checked under a microscope. Tweet
