As a former "elderly" monitor
I'd like to add my two cents here.
I am VERY encouraged to see this board have monitors that are experienced and know what they're doing. They are not only encouraging, but along with their support they encourage further education by giving out advice on what to read. I remember that with my first fast, I had done a lot of READING...Fuhrman and Bragg were my authors. I understand
Shelton is another excellent one! AND, I had a
professional (a chiropractor/acupuncturist/nutritionist) as my
personal monitor, one whom I could call upon when I had a concern or a question. Safety and my health was at the top of the list...the weight I had lost was always at the bottom of the list.
Fasting is wonderful and cleansing, but not something to just "jump" into because one just wants to lose weight. It is first and foremost a way to cleanse and heal the body. The dropping of weight should be a secondary thing - like a bonus, if you will...a "perk"!
Support means that we are here to encourage, aid, guide.
It does not "just" mean being a cheerleader...and please note, monitors are here out of the goodness of their hearts, and because they've already been through this, and they want to help you! They volunteer their time, and are not paid; they genuinely love people and do this because they WANT to help others.
Thanks for hearing me out, you "youngins" - but please, for the sake of your health -
get educated, and read those books!
