Re: Iodine and gardening

I can't find the article right now, but I do remember reading (somewhere) where growing sunflowers every year (for three full years) will totally cleanse the soil to prepare for organic gardening, as the sunflowers will actually absorb toxins. Of course, you want to garden now; so, perhaps we should all think about another plot of ground to detoxify while growing our food wherever we all grow it presently.

As far as Iodine is concerned, I know that two summers ago my hubby put out pvc pipe (yeah, I know, 8^( - PLASTIC - should be a better option out there) - but anyway, he hammered pvc piping into the ground so that I could pour iodinated treated water right to the roots of tomatoes we grew. Those tomatoes were pretty darn good, come to think of it. (we didn't garden last summer for the back problems we both had)
