Re: Fasting article on the news today. Your opinion on this?

I totally agree with Donn and Mouseclick who does some nifty research himself.

Research Institutes are well known in Alternative circles to produce biased studies in favor of their sponsors.............so this is really old but relevant news.

The Water Fasting information is totally inaccurate and distorted: these are the figures from Yeos Physiology and Chossats Physiology.

Notice the comparisons between the losses of muscle and fat even when the starvation stage has been reached.....

The following losses have been observed by some investigators:
Fat 91% Spleen 63%
Muscle 30% Blood 17%
Liver 56% Nerves ???

Yeo's physiology gives the estimated losses that occur in death from starvation as:--

Fat 97% Spleen 63%
Muscle 30% Blood 17%
Liver 56% Nerve Centers 000

According to Chossat, the losses sustained by the various tissues in starvation are as follows:-

Fat 93% Nerves 2%
Muscles 43% Pancreas 64%
Liver 52% Spleen 70%
Blood 75%
