While I agree with you in a general sense DQ, ultimately the standards and defintion of addiction have been revised relatively recently to include just about everything under the sun. Just like the definition of "obesity" has been revised. When we were growing up it meant a grossly overweight person. Today it is anyone packing an extra 30-40 pounds. You are right when you say that anything can be "addicting". However.... In one sense you can't compare physically addicting drugs to most other "addictions". There are too many chemical changes that take place, including what happens to how we feel and experience pleasure, such as what happens to dopamine receptors, so one needs to differentiate a heroin addiction to an addiction to video games.
