Re: Peter Schiff predictions & black market
my gut feeling is that living in a third world country, one will be better off. The infrastructure is already set up to deal with the impoverished situation. Farmers' Markets, flee markets, black markets, money changers, bullock carts, farm animals allowed within the cities [chickens (eggs), goats (milk), etc.].
Mind you that the rest of the world's economies will also b taking a hit. Thievery will be on the rise wherever you go. Be sure to watch your back. Its easy to spot an American... like a fish out of water. It is my observation that most ethnic peoples of the world are very communal with themselves, with others of the same race. Americans do not have this as much... there is a different ego there... makes it difficult to mix with others of different ethnic backgrounds, not to say it is not possible.
India for example: recently gold is available to purchase from the GPO. Its possible to get a 5 year tourist visa (just have to exit the country across one of its borders every six months). I would stay away from the huge cities like Mumbai & Calcutta. The only thing is that food shortages may hit that country like a sledge hammer. If I had money this would be my choice, either that or Thailand, its possible to find work there but would have to exit the country every three months. Unless you have money then, well, money talks better. The same for Signapore - if you got some money.
