On a juice fast, should i have bowel movements?

Hi all:

Any experienced fasters out there who can educate me on this?

Plagued by fibromyalgia-like symptoms (and doctors' bills!) i have been trying many new things. By far the best results have come from juicing. The results were so spectacular that my nutritionist gave me the go-ahead to do a juice fast. After one week, i signed up for another week of fasting, which i am half-way through now.

Because another remedy i wanted to try was colon cleansing i thought, hey, i'll do them at the same time, only to learn that Blessed Herbs, where i purchased the cleanse kit (by the way it seems like an Excellent kit) said juice fasting was the *preferred* way to accomplish their colon cleanse.

My question is: Blessed Herb's user manual states unequivocally that someone should have 2 to 3 bowel movements a day while doing the juice fast/colon cleanse. I've never had that many b.m.'s a day in my entire life, and can't imagine how my body could produce that after 11 days of juice fasting. The instructions that came with the kit tell you to increase the amount of laxative ("digestive stimulator") you take each day until you are having 2-3 movements a day. I'm willing to keep increasing the amount of laxative each day, but am reluctant to put off the 5-day intensive cleanse for too long, as i may lose my resolve to continue. i am currently only having one b.m. (all-liquid) a day, and was hoping to get back to solid food, even if all-raw food, sooner rather than later.

Mostly, i need reassurance that regular b.m.'s are physically possible while only consuming juice for more than a week. What is it that's coming out then??

Thanks -- glad to know the forum is here,

Deb
