One of the sad things about severe pinworm infestations is constant re-infection. The eggs that they lay get on your clothes, bed sheets, etc, even furniture. If these things are not scalded (washed in very hot water), the eggs find their way back in and you get more worms.

Also, animals can be carriers of worm eggs.
