Luella, this goes for cats too. I learned the hard way. I was feeding my cats Meow Mix daily and regularly and they came down with bad bladder and kidney infections and almost died. When I contacted Meow Mix, they ignored me totally and just plain don't care if my cats almost died. I told them there should be warning on the boxes.

My vet said that dry food should not be fed to animals more than once a day, so I feed my cats dry food for breakfast only.

I too make their food homemade.

Take 1 pound of chicken kidneys and 1/2 pound of livers and cook with their fav veg such as carrots, egg plant, cauliflower or potatoes and then put them in a food processor and mush up. Make sure you drain the water first.

The add a spoon to some scrambled eggs or a small amount of rice. Cats hate rice so minimal is good.

Also take a spoon of the above mixture and mix in a cup of mix and you have wonderful liver milk. Yuk, but the cats absolutely love this.
