What I put in my green smoothies
All you really need is a good blender. I have a Vita Mix which I just saved up for but before I got the Vita Mix all I was using was a cheap blender so don't think you can't do the green smoothies if you don't have either a Vita Mix or what my brother just got was a Jack O lane blender which is cheap and I seen my brother turn a carrot and celery into juice in his blender.
That is one draw back of using a regular blender is that you can't blend carrots or other hard veggies in it but you don't need to add a carrot or celery to make the green smoothies.
Here is what I did when I used my cheap blender.
I filled up the blender about 1/4 of the way with either 2% milk or skim milk or 1/8 water and 1/8 milk, a little orange juice if I had it. I quartered a small apple for taste, two banannas for taste and a palm full of raisins if I had them. Then I would put in about a hand full of Spring Mix lettuce and a hand full of baby spinich all organic of course then blended it up until smooth. My cheap blender had a hard time chopping ice so I would have to pour the green smoothie in a pitcher and put it in the frig to get cold.
You can add any fruit to your smoothie so you can tolerate the taste of the greens. The smoothie takes on the taste of the fruit.
You can also add any green lettuce mix all except head lettuce which has no nutritional value.
When you blend up the greens to a creamy consistancy then it breaks down the cellular wall and releases valuable nutrients that match what our bodies need.
There is an abundance of Protein in greens, there is fiber, greens make the body more alkaline which most parasites can't survive in that kind of environment. When the cell walls are ruptured it releases Chlorophyll. The list goes on and on for what chlorophyll does for us! Do some research on it.
If you have a good strong blender then you can add a carrot, celery, and so on and so on.
I also do this but you don't have to do it. I take a couple of B Complex capsules and cut the ends and squeeze the gel out into my smoothie. I also sometimes put in some vitamin C powder and some milled flax seed.
All that is just a plus, you can add anything to your smoothies OR, you don't have to add anything else except the greens and fruit to get the wonderful benefits.
Most people don't get their recommended daily greens because they don't chew their greens until they are creamy.
Let the blender be your chompers. lol.
Remember to add fruit to your green smoothies so you can enjoy the flavor and be able to continue to drink them. Change up what you put in so you don't get tired of them. They will reverse the aging process and help you live longer.
I hope that helped answer your question. Donna
