Re: Yeast infection, help!
I know it's too late to bring this part up, but if you ever fight another ear infection - they are actually easier to deal with than the yeast infection. We have always had alot of success by using warm garlic oil and warm mullein oil in the ear. The garlic oil kills the infection and the mullein oil breaks up the congestion. In extreme cases where the glands are so swollen the eustation tubes cannot drain, we use a mixture of three parts mullein to one part lobelia in a strong tea, soak a cotton cloth in it, then put the warm, wet cloth over the swollen glands to bring down the swelling. Then with some gentle massage along the jaw line, we help the ear to drain. Not knowing this, I would have gone the medical route too, so let's address yeast infections.
Yeast lives on sugar, so one of the first things I would do is make sure I eliminated all sugar from my diet until I got it cleared up. Bayberry tea has been used traditionally to flush out yeast, however, it is very bitter so it can be taken in 3 glasses daily or a couple of TBSP every hour throughout the day. I would also use cotton underwear or no underwear so the tissue can breathe. Next, I would try one of several remedies, depending on what I had on hand:
- Vinegar Douche daily - 2 TBSP to one quart warm water
- Douche with a mixture of black walnut hull and myrrh teas
(a small tampon saturated in the black walnut oil or tincture and
left in overnight has also been beneficial)
- In "Essential Oils", Dr Young recommends a douche using a mixture of
essential oils: 2 drops oregano oil, 1 drop thyme and 5 drops of
Melrose mixed into 1 TBSP V-6 mixing oil or olive oil. Shake well.
- A good friend of mine shared this recipe:
She has used this bolus in her midwife practice to clear up
infections of all kinds. She uses:
2 1/2 ounces Cocoa Butter (1/2 jar)
30 - 45 drops Tea Tree Oil
30 - 45 drops Oregano Oil
freezer bag or heavy-duty sandwich bag
She puts the cocoa butter in the freezer bag - holds over boiling
water to melt butter - she adds tea tree oil and oregano oil to
the butter - the butter will begin to harden almost immediately
(if you live in a warm climate, you might need to put the bag in
the refrigerator for a couple of minutes) - before the butter
hardens completely, she lays the bag on the counter so she can
spread the butter out and flatten it (keeping it in the bag)
- using the edge of a credit card or drivers license , she makes
creases in the butter to form fingers vertically and
horizontally - this will make about 25 suppositories.
She keeps the bag in the refrigerator or freezer -
when she needs to use one, she breaks off a piece about the size of
your little finger and inserts it at bedtime.
For the itching and burning, I would keep some liquid Acidophilus in the refrigerator that I could put on a pad and keep next to the skin.
I hope this helps, Dr Mom
