Didn't they just change the bankruptcy laws? I wonder if they foresaw this?

I wonder if I'm going to be able to keep my house? My husband just got laid off. I didn't have one of those funny mortgage loans, and my job is stable (I'm with a recession proof company if you can believe in that). But they say this will last into 2011. How long will we be able to get unemployment, which we have paid into for years and deserve the benefits of.

At least I practice natural health (and my family) so hopefully we won't need high level of medical benefits. I keep it only for broken things, and the occasional need for Antibiotics .

I don't know why I'm not as scared as perhaps I should be? Am I in denial?

Tonight we had fish, peas and couscous. We have a fire in the fireplace. We have football on, even though we are down to very basic cable. We have cut back on everything as far as possible with our lifestyle. Is that enough?

Am I nervous? Hell yes I am. Unfortunately a great deal of our "nest egg" was tied into stocks which tanked at the same time as my husband's layoff. Even at lower levels it was enough to pay off all our debt. Now it's far below that.

Hell I'm 50. I shouldn't be dealing with this kind of stress at this age. This sucks.

Sorry to rant. Perhaps I am scared. I'm sure the denial will end soon and I'll sink into some sort of financial despair.
