Re: Cardiomyopathy (muscular dystrophy of heart) & selenium

Have cardiomyopothy, ejection fraction of 15% and recommended for transplant evaluation in 1996 by 6 individual cardiologists. Told I had 5-10 years with out transplant and not good years too. Had difficulity breathing and never recovered from quad bypass at age 39 (1995). Placed on Prinivil (ace inhibitor) and Lanoxin. Note that Prinivil is for Congestive Heart Failure but mostly for high blood pressure (My BP is usually 105/65). The drugs were not helping.

I didn't get better. Transplant evaluation was not an option since without private insurance in the State of Florida, transplant evaluation was an impossible possibility at that time. The transplant center at a university hospital here in Florida told me to move to another state since they would not evaluate me without private insurance or $250K+ in a bank earmarked for the transplant at their hospital. I had no cash since bypass without insurance took me broke.

Finally found a Dr that recommended transplant evaluation BUT said that I might be able to teach my body to live in a low oxygen environment. He was right, but still has a bit of a problem believing I am so healthy now. I had gotten interested in alt medicine and raw diet/juicing. Well its 2002 (6 years later) and I am at the gym daily doing 1 hour of cardiovascular (treadmill, spinning class, elipitical, or stairmaster) and lifting weights.

I got off the drugs within 1 month of juicing diet and I can breath fine today. No transplant talk although the doctor still speaks about "when patient decomponsates he will be an ideal candidate for a heart transplant".

I plan on a long life and a normal one at that. I still juice a lot and eat a raw veg diet. Life is good and I than God every day.

Will try the selenium. I have been using CoQ10 (300mg a day), 100mg B3 and some B12. That's all folks. No meds.
