Hello #97461,

One of the first rules of "outside" adventure is to frequently examine yourself for any signs of bites, scrapes, cuts, and bruises. In wilderness situations, "help" is often days away and it is better to "over react" on the side of caution early on than to have to deal with an infection later.

I have deer in my back yard. After I have been out in the yard, I am vigilant to check myself for any signs of bites. I have passed this attitude of vigilance on to my whole family.

I am not aware that ClO2 can cause ticks to detach, but it certainly will disinfect the wound. The idea of the cotton ball saturated with ASC is to disinfect the wound after the tick has been removed.
