Re: Definate Test For Candida???
First, candida albicans is found naturally all over and inside the body. Pathogenic strains are nasty enough to kill a person, especially those with compromised immune systems [transplant patients, AIDS, etc.]
These types are very rare in healthy individuals. The test they use for clinical diagnostics are usually from animal-generated antibodies directed to antigens from those nasty strains. In other words, they will show negative results with most people. Antibodies directed at candida albicans in general should always show up. But, that would be a normal event.
I think it is safe to say, that if you do suffer from re-occurring yeast infections like oral or vaginal thrush, there is something going on in the bigger picture.
But, there is evidence that some strains can cause over-growth in the gut, especially after heavy
Antibiotic use. I personally suspect that this is caused by penicillium and not candida yeast in many cases.
So, tests to reveal candida yeast as being a problem, should include doing direct cultures, and microscopic examination of collected specimen. shroom
