Re: Vanishing sunspots
A sunspot is a dark region on the Sun's surface.
A solar flare is a violent explosion of gas on the Sun.
A coronal mass ejection (CME) is an ejection of material from the Sun, or a huge magnetic bubble of plasma that erupts from the Sun.
Coronal Mass Ejections are the ones we have to really worry about. Coronal Mass Ejections usually occur during solar activity, but can occur without a sunspot or flare. CMEs are not detected easily and can sometimes get here in 30 minutes. Super fast. If a CME collides with the Earth, it can excite a geomagnetic storm. Large geomagnetic storms have, among other things, caused electrical power outages and damaged communications satellites. In space CMEs typically drive shock waves that travel faster than the solar wind and produce energetic particles that can be damaging to both electronic equipment and people that venture outside the protection of the Earth's magnetic field. Solar flares, on the other hand, directly affect the ionosphere and radio communications at the Earth, and also release energetic particles into space. Therefore, to understand and predict "space weather" and the effect of solar activity on the Earth, an understanding of both CMEs and flares is required.
In my opinion, it seems the solar system is entering a field of higher energy and all the planets are changing. (Not global warming, but solar system warming) It seems it’s causing an acceleration of the magnetic pole shift, changes in the ozone distribution, and an increased frequency and magnitude of significant catastrophic climatic events. There is growing probability that we are moving into a rapid temperature instability period similar to the one that took place 10,000 years ago. In general, an overall transformational process is taking place in our Solar System. These changes are affecting the energy capacity growth (capacitance on our planet), which is leading to a highly excited or charged state of some of Earth's systems. These changes are affecting all life forms on Earth. Therefore, it is not only the climate that is becoming new, but human beings are experiencing a global change too. This change will bring a new era for everything for the better in the end, in my opinion. So much for my opinion. :-)
