Re: Oxythiocyanate - Shroom or anybody else
It sounds like you did the string test in which you swallow a string and it is pulled back out. THe amount of green on the stick reveals how much stomach acid you have - is that right ?
I did that test years ago and it revealed quite low stomach acid levels. I did the burp test many times over the years and did not burp. I also had tried taking the HCL capsules several times over the years until I got heartburn. One time I got it after 12 and another time 14 and another time got up to 18 and never got it. That's quite a lot of capsules.
Recently I decided to add potassium broth, zinc and B complex to my daily routine just to get enough of these items. I then added HCL capsules to again try to see how many I needed. Well, I finally got heartburn after 3 capsules. I then didn't know which end was up and decided to do the Heidelberg test and I could see right on the screen I had sufficient stomach acid and I don't take HCL. THe next mronign I passed the burp test.
THe upshot of all this is that I *think* the potassium broth (3 cups a day) and the zinc and B complex gave me the missing nutrients to get my HCL up. Oh, I also take 1/2 tsp of sodium chloride daily which would help if I were low in chloride.
Sorry - I posted this in the wrong location, it was supposed to go under your HCL thread, obviously!
Congrats on finding something significant - I've heard of a few recovering by supplementing HCL alone after years of chasing candida.
