"Ragged Red Fiber" disease could be Morgellons, perhaps. I haven't seen that particular term. Morgellons is associated with many different colors and thread-like organisms associated with bacteria, fungus, and possibly nematode.

C Pulmoni - I do see where you're coming from. The female is red, but there maybe no connection whatsoever.

The problem with many diseases and causes is that it is easy to make assumptions about them based off of little facts. Digging into the truth of some things takes time and A LOT of studying, as you know.
