6am thru 1pm Blood Pressure compared to 2pm thru 9pm, covering 10+ years- 21,956 BPs.

Over the past 10+ years, I've accumulated over 25,000 blood pressure readings in my database. As a result of analyzing my blood pressure report, charts and notes, I've not only been able to reduce my blood pressure down to very healthy levels, I've also been able to permanently reduce my Cholesterol and Triglycerides down to very healthy levels, totally thru diet, without ever having to take Statins; and have experienced other significant improvements to my health.

So..... I figured I would share some of my findings, just in case it can be of some use to others. Not too many have the luxury of having 25,000 bp readings, by time of day, over the past 10+ years. In fact, not too many would really care to, right?!

I just ran a report showing my blood pressure between 6am and 1pm, and between 2pm and 9pm, for 1998 thru 2008. The report first shows my year average Systolic/Diastolic for 6am-1pm, and then my year average Systolic/Diastolic for 2pm-9pm and then the percentage for which the Afternoon Blood Pressure is higher than the morning blood pressure. Confusing description, wasn't it?

To better explain....... look at the report that follows. In 1998 my Systolic between 6am and 1pm was 146 and my diastolic was 94; my Systolic between 2pm and 9pm was 154 and my diastolic was 98; my average Afternoon Systolic was 8% higher than the morning, and my average Afternoon Diastolic was 4% higher than the morning.

In 2007 my Systolic between 6am and 1pm was 121 and my diastolic was 71; my Systolic between 2pm and 9pm was 131 and my diastolic was 77; my Afternoon Systolic was 10% higher than the morning, and my Afternoon Diastolic was 6% higher than the morning.

.........Year_____6am-1pm____2pm-9pm_____Percent higher, afternoon compared to morning
  • 1998_____146/94 ______154/98______ 8%/4%
  • 1999_____142/90 ______147/92______ 5%/2%
  • 2000_____142/90 ______145/91______ 4%/1%
  • 2001_____143/91 ______147/92______ 4%/1%
  • 2002_____145/93 ______153/97______ 8%/4%
  • 2003_____147/94 ______155/97______ 8%/3%
  • 2004_____140/87 ______149/93______ 9%/6%
  • 2005_____134/83 ______143/88______ 9%/6%
  • 2006_____132/77 ______139/81______ 8%/4%
  • 2007_____121/71 ______131/77______ 10%/6%
  • 2008_____116/69 ______126/75______ 10%/6%
    .
  • All Years__135/83______ 143/88_______8%/5%

Total Blood Pressure readings used in this report: 21,956

Anyone surprised by the difference in blood pressure, morning compared to afternoon? Most of the articles that I have read on the Internet also say that blood pressure rises throughout the day, so I guess I might be just rehashing what was already discovered centuries ago.

Whatcha think? Is this info of use, or of interest, to anyone but me?
