You really need to expand your education if you think that "sort of thing" doesn't happen in the U.S. It occurs on a regular basis with even greater frequency now than ever before... and lives are being destroyed because of it!

And sadly... the dark side of the inclusion of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act that was tagged on to the bailout agreement is only going to mean it happens with greater frequency because it will become a huge cash cow for the pseudoscience of psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry! This is being referred to as the silver lining of the bailout package... and may have had a substantial influence on its passage.
