has anyone had lasting results?

A few weeks ago I finally found out what the intense pain was I have been suffering from for the past few years - gallstones! I felt so happy to know that I wasn't crazy, something was wrong. The doctor says the next step is for me to decide whether I want to live with the pain or have my gallbladder removed. I choose neither. I was doing some research on the internet and this board popped up. I am hoping this is real, that this method really does remove stones. My doctor acts like the whole thing is no big deal, as though I'm going in to have a spare finger removed or something. I'm so afraid. I don't know what to do. My question for you guys is have you had lasting results from this cleansing? Were you experiencing intense gallstone attacks regularly and now they are gone and have been gone for more than a year? I have read many of the posts here, but I haven't heard anyone say how long they have been pain free. I'm just looking for some kind of hope. Your posts have been very helpful and encouraging.
