Here's my tip. Be a good parent. Support him, listen to him, be there for him, stand by him, and stand up to those who would decry him. Don't smother him, or be too understanding or over-attentive. Leave him to blossom in his own way.

There is nothing wrong with being gay. It's not a "lifestyle", it's not a problem. But other people can make it a problem out of ignorance and fear. Being gay is a perfectly normal part of the human sexuality spectrum. It's not average - only 10% of the population is gay - but it is normal and natural.

If you have issues with gay people yourself on whatever level, deal with them separately from him. They're not his concern.
