>- The rats received Essiac® 30-minutes prior to a physical challenge to the liver, stomach or immune system. The rats were dosed again with the compound at 4, 8 and 24 hours. Also at 24 hours they were sacrificed and specific levels were measured, including body weight.

This sounds to me as another attempt to blacken the eye of a good herbal therapy.

1) Everyone knows that it takes several days or even weeks for Essiac to take effect.

2) Essiac has the most effect on those who are in poor health. This test used normal healthy rats which would not benefit significantly from such a limited dose of Essiac.

>- Results and Conclusions Essiac® showed significant effects in gastric protection and non-significant changes with other properties.

So in the short term, Essiac helped protect the gastric system from damage.

>- Thus, the researchers concluded that Essiac® administered in established in vivo experiments did not significantly demonstrate the purported physiological modifying effects.

Wrong conclusion. The researchers should have concluded that they did not have the intelligence to properly conduct a valid study.
