Re: Accupuncture anyone? This is long-sorry

Sorry to respond so late, but I just found this blog yesterday and had to reply as I too had extreme problems w/ Mirena. After removal, I truly believe that accupuncture treatments helped me back to good health.

I am writing all the way from MA in the US. The only place that I found solace, understanding is here on the web, and on sites that were from other countries.

After having the Mirena in for 9 months, during my baby son's first year, and experiencing excruciating pain and horrible depression, I finally had it removed this past July. When I asked to have it removed, the doctor discounted all of my symptoms.

Well, I no longer have days when I can't get myself up out of bed. Just two weeks after removal, I had already lost 12 pounds! My heart palpitations and anxiety attacks decreased dramatically. My joints, which ached as if I were an 80 year old, stopped aching and I was able to be active once again.

There have been some lingering affects which, with the accupuncture treatments, have also abated. My horrible headaches, migraines, and wacky hormones (bloated, tired, crampy uterus) are all gone. I lost more and more weight. I truly believe that my hormones were so out of wack, and as my family doctor termed it, that the hormones in the Mirena were like poison to my body. The accupuncturist worked specifically with points that dealt with the uterus and hormone production, to make sure that I had a long, cleansing period to cleanse out my uterus.

I feel like a new person - with increased energy, drive, and ability to concentrate.

I do have one lingering side affect which I am worried about: my lower back area, internally near the ovaries, aches very deeply, mostly in the early morning and throughout the night. I hope, that at my next doctors appointment at the end of this month, my pap will clear me of all other possible internal affects, including the widely documented ovarian cysts that result for some from the Mirena.

I hope this post helped. Sorry its so long;) If you have any other questions regarding my accupuncture experience, please let me know.
