Re: lecthin?

You want lecithin granules. Not the softgels or liquids. Crude lecithin is very thick and sticky, so it does not flow well through machinery. So the crude lecithin is thinned out with a lot of soy oil to make it fluid enough to flow through the softgel and bottling machinery. Therefore the lecithin content of liquids and softgels are very low. Lecithin granules are deoiled concentrating the active components like phosphatidyl choline and phosphatidyl serine. The generic granules are fine, just keep them refrigerated after opening the package to slow down oxidation.

The reason it can be a problem in high doses is because it is very high in phosphorus. In high levels phosphorus can lead to bone breakdown. Recommended dose is 1 tablespoon 3 times daily. It can be sprinkled on food or blended in smoothies.

Lecithin is also great for the liver, nerves, lowering cholesterol, removing arterial plaque, dissolving gallstones, and building brain tissue and acetylcholine. Lecithin also helps with the absorption of dietary fats, which is especially important for those with cystic fibrosis.
