In the last paragraph of the USES section of this article:

"When given orally, magnesium sulfate ( Epsom Salts ) is not absorbed but attracts water into the colon and thus acts as an effective laxative."

So if magnesium is not absorbed by taking Epsom Salts orally, how would it relax muscle tissue/bile duct? Does anyone know of research that confirms the absorption of magnesium when consuming Epsom Salts orally?
