72 Hours ~ Planning for Survival
Planning for survival before you need
it is important so that when events
transpire which require that you either
shelter in place or need to leave, that
you are prepared.
This site has lots of info which can
help give you ideas of what to expect
and what to do during an emergency~~

When I lived in Missouri, and we had
tornado warnings, we were prepared
to be stuck under a desk in debris
with whistles and a tornado pack which
was kept in the basement where, when
the sirens went off, we would head.
Our survival pack in the basement
contained water and food which did not
need to be prepared and first aid
supplies. It also had whistles in it
so we could alert people if we did
happen to get buried in rubble. A
good signal which can be used in such
an event is a fire alarm. You can use
the test button to screech out an SOS.
The universal signal of distress is 3
blasts of anything.
When the sirens sound, it means that
there are tornadoes on the ground so
it is not a time to grab things you
need beside pets and loved ones. You
need to think of preparation as stuff
you do before an event happens.
Depending on where you live, your needs
will be different. Preparation though
should give you peace of mind. Of course,
the best case scenario is that nothing
ever happens which makes it necessary to
use your emergency plan, but if you do
need it, it will make you feel much
better to be prepared.
