The probability of a die and having a 1 pop up in the roll, is 1/ 6.
So, you figure that if you roll two dice, your chances of having a 1 pop up should be 2/6, or one out of three rolls.
Yet, upon inspection of all possible combinations of two dice, you determine that only 11 out of the 36 possible rolls have a 1 in them*, and from this you determine your chances of throwing two dice and having a 1 pop up is just 11/36.
You vex. Your boss needed the answer by 5pm - yesterday !! Is the probability of rolling two dice and having a 1 in the roll 11/36, or is it 1/3 ?
