There is a Cure!
I had seb derm and eczema and learned a lot of great healing techniques from
Psoriasis folks.
My husband looked at my back today and gasped at the new, fresh, soft-as-a-baby's-butt skin that has grown back in place of the red, weeping, hot, scaly mess that was there before.
Scroll down a few posts in the eczema forum and you'll see my earlier protocol.
I saw a naturopath a few weeks ago. He gave me some homeopathic remedies that I was taking with a metal spoon. I felt nothing. On my next visit, the naturopath said I should not have used metal with the remedies. So, who knows if they did not work or what. I wish he'd told me earlier about the metal. Oh, well.
He gave me additional remedies on my second visit. The new and old remedies taken together caused a painful healing reaction, and my skin was tender, red, weeping, crusty and the whole bit.
I finally decided no one was going to help me but me, so I went to Google and searched and searched and came upon Dr. Pagano's Healing
Psoriasis Naturally. I know I don't have psoriasis, but what did I have to lose? I also bought and listened to Donna Gates' CD on leaky gut as I suspected leaky gut was a reason for my increasing
food allergies . She says people have to heal the gut before they do anything else. I respect her, so I decided to act as though I have leaky gut even though I don't know for certain. I had nothing to lose.
For FIVE days, I ate only vegetable soup. I ate sweet potato/ginger, kale-spinach, cauliflower-fill, acorn squash with cinnamon, green bean/onion/garlic/zucchini. I ate an enormous variety of veggies this way.
I gave up ALL dairy.
I gave up ALL grains.
I ate no fruit.
I ate nothing pointy like nuts or seeds.
I stopped taking the majority of my supplements.
I ate a lot of raw cultured vegetables -- about 2-3 x per day.
I did not eat protein, which is a big deal for me.
Basically, I nourished my body and let the digestion be easier so my body could redirect itself towards healing.
Donna Gates says that a
Water Fast would be too hard for most of us. That's why she recommends the veggie fast. She recommends veggie juices and green coconut kefir during this time. I could not find the green coconuts and I did not want to buy yet another thing (a juicer for veggies), so I did all the other stuff that I could do.
To break the veggie 'fast' Donna Gates suggests eggs. Boy, did I look forward to the day I could two eggs fried in virgin coconut oil! They were delicious.
I felt great on the veggie soup 'fast'. My husband slept elsewhere so his snoring would not wake me up, and I felt like a million bucks. So rested! So full of energy!
Now before this, please know I had a relatively healthy diet. My idea of a treat is a piece of brown rice bread with olive oil and zatar.
Well, despite my previously decent diet, my body expelled stuff like crazy. Sometimes I took two
Epsom Salt baths per day just to help the oozing liquid get out of me and to stop the itching. In the morning, my neck and parts of my face would be covered with dead skin.
The oozing led to a drop in body temperature. I was freezing in 70-degree weather. I would shiver.
One night, I scratched so much that my finger muscles were sore. Imagine that!
On the 4th day, I could tell I was getting better. On the 5th day, I was a LOT better.
Every night, I left a bunch of shed skin in the sheets. So gross. I took a small dirt devil vacuum cleaner and vacuumed all the dead skin up. Yuck!
Finally, last night I had NO itching. The only thing that woke me up was my husband's snoring. LOL. It was glorious not to be itching from 3 to 4 am. There was NO skin on the sheets this day. Okay, maybe a very, very small amount.
I ordered Dr. Pagano's book and am eagerly awaiting it. I read the reviews on amazon and am doing the parts of his program that people wrote about there until the book comes in.
He recommends drinking slippery elm tea or powder in the morning to coat the GI tract and to prevent food from getting through the intestinal walls. Some folks do this 3 x per day 30 minutes before each meal. At night, he recommends american safflower tea. Mine is brewing now!
Pagano also recommends avoiding all nightshades. This was easy for me as I don't care for nightshades veggies anyway.
In addition to the slippery elm tea, I bought Thayer's Slippery elm lozenges, though the powder might be better to use.
I am delighted with the improvement.
I set myself back a bit today by mistake. I really wanted a piece of brown rice bread, ate it, and think it caused me some problems.
On the good side, I ate a delicious summer egg roll which was steamed green beans, avocado, carrots, cilantro all wrapped up in a rice paper wrapper. YUM. For a snack today, I ate crisp nori -- a bit like a potato chip. For part of my lunch, I ate homemade baked sweet potato 'fries.'
I am having a lot of fun with creating yummy dishes to eat.
Here's to your healing!
