Douching isn't good for you. It washes out necessary lubrication and good bacteria. The idea that women "need" to douche for cleanliness is outdated.

I've only had one vaginal yeast infection in my life, and the doctor told me I was making it worse by douching. Then, when I was pregnant, my OB told me he absolutely forbids it during pregnancy.

Just use water that is comfortable and pure soap. The vaginal area doesn't need to be "sterilized" with hot water. Years ago, I read an article about how clean the area really is--a lot cleaner than our noses and mouths.

When menstrual blood has been tested, it's practically germ-free. As women, we need to get over the old-fashioned idea that we're "dirty" somehow.

Some doctors even say that we bathe too often here in America. Well, I'm not ready to give up my daily shower, but we probably wouldn't have the problems with dry skin if we were a little less zealous with the soap and water.
