I was going to address each aspect of what you call the fundamentals, but I'll just say I wish you were right.

"Why do liberals constantly bad mouth the American way?" What's happening in America right now isn't "the American way", and we certainly shouldn't be proud of it. That's why it's being bad mouthed as you say. It's called pointing out problems. And those unwilling to face problems are doomed to repeat them.

"why do they mock small town Americans who they call bitter?" Why do you take what one person said and apply it to everyone? If one wears blinders they miss a lot.

"They can only attack, tear down and blame." There is a solution which would be more productive to talk about IF people realized there are problems in the first place.

"they walk around with small white handkerchiefs in their back pockets ever ready to surrender at a moment’s notice" What's there to surrender to? Have you been attacked? What are you doing about it? Condemnation is not a solution. I haven't been attacked except by our own government and there's no white flag in my pocket for that. And if you play the 9/11 card, where's Osama's head on a platter? Hint: It's not in Iraq.

"They tear down laws." NEVER in history have so many laws been broken in such a short amount of time as under this republican administration.

"They encourage destruction of the family through self love above all else" You're the one promoting pride. Pride is poverty of soul disguised as riches, imaginary light where there is really darkness Luke 11:35 Pride turned some of the angels into demons, so humility, modesty, meekness & love can make angels out of demons.

"destruction of freedom" And NEVER have so many of our freedoms, given to us by the constitution, been taken away from us than by this republican administration.

"Even the ‘independent’ posters at this site are full of despair, angst, hand wringing and hopelessness. The glass is always half empty. They are on the same side of the boat as the left. Why?"
I don't think you understand the difference between despair and reflecting on reality. The only despair you talk about is in those who are unable to see the truth, those who are afraid to face the truth and those who are afraid to stand up for the truth. Those who realize these things, face the truth, know what the problem is and know what to do. So where's the despair? The despair lies in those without those qualities.

"The fundamentals of America is her spirit." In case you didn't noticed, the spirit you speak of died long ago. The spirit of America WAS standing up to tyranny, and over taxation, and promoting small government and freedom at all cost. It was the belief that all are created equal. It was those not willing to sacrifice even one of those beliefs or principles. And who's standing up against these things being taken away from us as we speak? Not the one's saying nothing's wrong. Not the one's saying the economy is strong. Not the one's saying the problem lies in others. Not the one's unable to see this spirit died when America comfortably fell asleep from the efforts of those who DID have the "Pioneering Spirit" you speak of. And until we ALL realize we are the problem and we are the solution, nothing is going to change. The vail will prevail. That spirit will remain in the tomb it was thrown in.
