Re: Menopause symptoms with IUD??

Hi,

I had a Mirena in place for 4 years for Endometriosis and it was great - no periods, but no other symptoms and very little pain!

Then about 3 months ago I had a horrendous period and the pain came flooding back - my Doc had said that I would need to get it replaced after 4 years, so, I asked my GP to replace it.

Since then, I have not been right and the last month I have been having awful hot flushes, where I get dizzy and mood swings so bad I hate myself!! I am usually such an even tempered person!! I have also been so tired that I can fall asleep anywhere, but, am wide awake for a couple of hours during the night from about 3am!!

My body has also had a lot to put up with in the past - 5 different types of hormone therapy to induce menopause (all of which failed with bad side effects) and subsequently a D&C and 10 x laser laparoscopies to clear the endometriosis.

I am going to my Doc this week about he menopause side effects, so I will let you know what she says, but I am at a loss to know whats best - the Mirena worked for me last time so I don't know why now is different!
