LOL was that a verse that I missed? I think fasting has more to do with your conduct in said mall. Ok I get the no materialism thing but really it is everywhere and being a good servant of God means living a normal life and still restraining yourself from sinning. There is no reason why you can't go shopping while staying within reasonable spending limits and still having money left over for charity.
