Hi, Although I believe that U.T. will cure gum disease. I always use a mouthwash of Hydrogen Peroxide 20 vol[or whatever vol is available] 1part H2O2 (Hydrogen-Peroxid) to 3parts water. Hold in the mouth until it fizzes up and spit out. The fizzing is the free radical oxygen molecule bursting the bacteria. It's so quick, 2/3 times cures gum disease, ulcers, thrush and sore mouth, but it's a bit severe for extractions. I do it 2/3 times a week just to keep my mouth fresh. It also whitens your teeth.
