White coating all over tongue...is this oral thrush?
Hi Dr Jeff,
I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with :
Question 1
===========
I have this persistent white coating all over my tongue which disappears for 1-2 hours after every meal. No white patches in my mouth, no raised bumps. I can't scrape it off and gargling with water/ brushing only improves it slightly.I also have cracks ( 2 deep lines ) on my tongue.
Can you tell me whether this is oral thrush?
Question 2 :
============
I suspect that I have candida as I was put on tetracycline for 4 months ( more than 10 yrs ago for acne ). I also have ringworm on my arms and dandruff which become better/worse, depending on what I eat. I used to have bloating after meals, but seems to get better since I started taking probiotics.
I've done a colon cleanse 3 months ago and have improved bowel movements after that ( 2-3x daily ). I used to have very dehydrated skin but it's ok now since I started taking EFAs and virgin coconut oil. These are the symptoms I have :
ringworm - mild case/ remission
dandruff - mild to moderate
white coating on tongue - moderate
bloating and indigestion - only if I eat a lot
skin problem - some clogged pores/occasional zit if I eat badly continuous for 1-2 weeks. I tend to get acne and clogged pores on my chin
I've been on fast food diet almost all my life and it's only in the past few months that I've started eating healthy.
My question is, do I have a bad case of candida? I don't seem to suffer from any severe symptoms, but it's hard to believe that I had a mild case given that I've had a really bad diet and led a highly stressed lifestyle.
Thanks, regards.
Erika
