Part of the answer to this is simple. If the parent was already bathing or caring for the kid before he got circumcised, exposure will be nothing new for the kid now. If other family or relatives were not already part of this scene then, why should they be now?
If the parent has not been caring for the naked kid before, maybe it won't be necessary now. If he is already bathing himself, maybe he is old enough to change the dressing and otherwise take care of his penis now, so long as he is given full and clear instructions on what he needs to be doing until it heals.
