I found my doc through my X, who was an acupuncture student at the time. How would you find a well-trained one? by asking around, just like you're doing now. I recommend May Ling, In Chicago's Chinatown. If you live somewhere with a large Asian population close by, shouldn't be too difficult.
I have absolutely no idea as to the herbs used.
And my sinuses completely drained with one acupuncture treatment. It was not a life-long cure, though.
