Re: Enough with the bad pancreatitus news..some good here.
Wow. Seriously. Thank you so much for that post. Just like you say, all there is are chunks of negative information all over the internet. It is so nice to hear something positive. I see that this forum is not THAT active, just know that you seriously just touched someone in a way that no one else who hasn't been through this can. Granted I am no where near the danger you were in but, for someone who is highly active and independant, I am not taking this easily. I feel very anxious about the outcome of my illness and I struggle with even speaking to family and friends about what is wrong and what I have gone through. I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis 3 days after having my gallbladder removed (1 month ago tomorrow) (I also hemorrhaged during my surgery leaving a huge hematoma the whole way across my stomach, looked like I was hit with a baseball bat, now feels like 2 huge rock hard bricks) . I had no blockages and nothing visibly wrong in my ducts, but my surgeon believes that my pancreas was flaring up before I actually had my surgery. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital NPO with a high fever and no one really able to tell me anything substantial. I've had multiple CT scans, HIDA scans, MRI's everything. After they sent me home I was like everyone else, unable to eat, afraid of everything, in huge amounts of pain. It's been two weeks and I am feeling much better, but my body is not recovering. My pancreas is still swollen and I keep searching for things online that I can do to help myself and all I find is bad possibilities. If you can recommend any places online that help with diet, it would be so helpful. I am pretty much living on instant potatoes, animal crackers, low
Sugar juices, water, and spaghettio's (which i found on another forum, and suprising cause me the least pain of all foods, but are high in soduim). I feel that eating this way is really not healthy and the nutritionist at the hospital really didn't have a clue, they were trying to feed me fatty pot roast the first day that I was coming of TPN. I was over weight before my surgery, but now I am losing 4-7lbs a week and eating under 1000 calories a day and virtually no fat. And thank you again so much for your post, it made me cry but I understand and appreciate your words, your time, and effort.
Much love.
