Why not remove God as well?
Religions (at least Judaism and its two offspring) have been used down the ages to kill, torture literally hundreds of millions of human beings. Of course, this is a "by-product" which doesn't take anything away from the few amazing beings who have expressed themselves seemingly within the dogmas and limitations of those religions.
The Buddhas and Jesus fo this earth have never belonged to any religion: they are religiousness itself!
Now, at the heart of these formal religions and outside of them alike, some rare individuals seem to have pushed the boundaries to where understanding cannot enter, where the notion of the individual, let alone of a separation between "me" and "god" cannot stand. This is where the Sufi, Mansoor, in a flash of recognition, declares: I am the Truth" (and of course, has to be stoned to death!)
The innermost core of Hinduism and Buddhism has known this simple truth for thousands of years: At the center of our being, there is ... nothing!
Quantum physics has been coming closer and closer to this realization.
If everything animate and inanimate is indeed made from the same "stuff" ever dancing in emptiness, if there is nothing else than god, why call it god at all?
For poetical reasons, yes, why not enjoy the misconception of separation and the ecstasy and the agony of longing for the Beloved...
But then, how separate can I (or you) be from my very own Self?
