Re: Advocating an Unusual Role for Trees

At one time before Modern Chemistry - Virtually everything came from plants & trees...this is nothing new. What is new is trying to reference it as these books and journals were never catalogued with ISBN #s, thus virtually never will be catalogued in modern systems. And in academia's all-seeing wisdom books not deemed of worth to their departments get tossed, which is exactly this information.
One book that is available: "Tree Crops: A Permananent Agriculture" by Joseph Russell Smith.

Here in England the streets of London are lined with the London Plane Tree just to bioremediate the Air Pollution. A point worth mentioning is tha this species is a hybrid. They still are not sure how it originated.

On the other hand it is aquatic plants - But there are firms that culture plants in tanks specifically to filtre pollutants & toxins from the wastewater.
Mushrooms are cultured to bioremediate heavy metal toxins & radiation.

It is also worth mentioning to read the 1st Edition of the "Humanure Handbook" for insight into how other countries use plants.
