How very nice to see you and welcome to our forum!
I am very familiar with restless leg syndrome. First, I am going to give you the probable causes and how relief can be obtained and then I will tell you my experience. I went from having severe restless leg syndrome (I used to do a lot of walking through my house at night where I would rather be sleeping) to having it go completely away. Now, I will point out that I suffered from restless leg syndrome when I had fibromyalgia. Somehow, they both seemed to be connected, and now they are both gone. Okay. Let's start with the causes first.
Restless leg syndrome has been linked to painful nighttime leg muscle cramps. And, interestingly enough, the arms could also be affected by this condition. Some researchers suspect an imbalance in the brain's chemistry may be the root cause of the problem. A deficiency in magnesium may be involved and some research strongly suggests that anemia may play a major role in this annoying disorder, pointing toward an iron deficiency. A diet which include dark green leafy vegetables would be in order to get the needed iron and calcium. However, please note that some people who showed normal iron levels in the blood, showed deficient levels in the brain. So, this may be the brain's difficulty in processing the iron. And, yes, heavy metal toxins could also be responsible.
I notice you take magnesium, calcium, and trace minerals. What type? The trace minerals should be plant derived. And you state that you have been taking these supplements off and on. They must be taken every day without fail. Also, http://www.nativeremedies.com has a marvelous magnesium supplement that helps with this condition. Here is a direct link to that supplement.

And now here are the remedies that I found, some of which I did myself. And I may add my own notes on some of these.
1. Get up and walk. Yes, I used to do this. And walk... and walk.... and walk..... but I would have much rather been sleeping.
2. Walk before going to bed.
3. Wriggle or wiggle. Used to do this too. Bicycle exercises in the middle of the night.
4. Soak your feet in cool water.
5. Put a heating pad on your legs.
6. Take a multivitamin/multimineral. And to this I would add additional supplementation. I will let you know what worked for me at the end of this post.
7. Don't eat a big meal late.
8. Lower your stress level.
9. Get plenty of rest. Symptoms may be more severe if you get overtired.
And something that I used to do is stretching, and I would massage the soles of my feet. This seemed to help quite a bit.
Okay.... Now what worked for me and I am going back three years. I will share with you that at that point in time I was in very poor health with quite a few chronic conditions, fibromyalgia and restless leg syndrome of which were two. Little by little I was introduced to natural health and first of all I changed my diet (I was a junk food junkie). I discovered the benefits of natural apple cider vinegar together with raw honey. I discovered trace minerals and omega 3's. Oh! And I think that this may also be very important. I discovered iodine supplementation. Actually, I also had a sluggish thyroid and iodine supplementation has balanced me out perfectly. I no longer take synthroid and am no longer fatigued. Even while taking synthroid, I always seemed to be very tired. I do believe that the iodine supplementation has helped with restless leg also. Other supplements I take and consider important are CoQ10, Acetyl L-Carnetine, Grapeseed Extract, Bromelain , and of course I took a good multivitamin/multimineral as a base.
When I started feeling an overall wonderful sense of wellbeing is this past January when I added colloidal silver to my regimen, followed by colloidal gold. And I recommend these two supplements most highly. With colloidal gold ALL ACHES AND PAINS ARE GONE. No kidding. If you have five hours or so we can have a cup of coffee and I can give you personal testimonial after testimonial as to what these two supplements have done not only for me but also for my pets. And if you do go this route, I would recommend nothing other than Utopia Silver. For a 15% discount on items not on sale type in Code LR001.
Also, state of mind is so very important. Doing things that make you happy. I love to take long walks in the country, enjoying every beautiful aspect of nature or just being in a beautiful location surrounded by nature itself just seems to rejuvinate my very soul.
Anja, I do hope I have helped you and wish you the very best. I will say that it took me six months with the above regimen to become restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, and asthma free. Please do keep me posted on your progress.
