I haven't tried the spit test yet because without thinking I ate this morning. I thought I read in some other forums that people with TMAU have all sorts of odors. I thought they too have all different smells like rotten eggs, tire rubber, musty odor etc. depending upon what they've eaten. To answer your question about the different smells. Yes, depending upon what I have eaten it definitely changes the smell. Rotten eggs, lingering musty smell, just weird smells. I've even had a strong hot asphalt smell at one time. When I was younger I would eat turkey hot dogs and when I would bite my fingernails they smelt like rotten turkey dogs. Before looking into TMAU I was researching Leaky Gut since the undigested/digested food is leaking into my blood stream. I just had a colonoscopy and everything looked ok. If I had leaky gut wouldn't they be able to see any evidence of redness or inflammation? I've heard alot mentioned about candida overgrowth but not sure why they say it causes odors. This all started when I was about 13 years old I'm 33 now and I can't figure out which one it can be. I would get tests done but I'm low on money. Any other ways of determining between the 3? Are candida and Leaky Gut a tag team at work?
