Another questionable area is correspondence schools.  Though not all are bogus, a good number of them are little more than diploma mills.   Some people refer to degrees from correspondence schools and diploma mills as "matchbox diplomas" because of the way they have advertised on books of matches..

Among the more notable "matchbox diploma" holders are Rima Laibow and Gary Null.  Laibow, who is legitimate psychiatrist, obtained her naturopathic degree via a correspondence school and refers to herself as a naturopathic doctor.  "Doctor" Null purchased a matchbook PhD and is famous for his highly promoted books and films and his claims to be able to reverse aging and heal virtually any disease.
