Re: What is charcoal made out of?

I seem to remember something about smoldering certain kinds of wood so that it isn't thoroughly burned...hardwood I think.

But I have no idea what 'activated' means.

I read that the powder is very light and difficult to mix with water to make a paste for poultices. I believe they mix it with fresh-ground flax seed, or some other carrier...maybe shaking it in a tightly closed jar or something.

Apparently hospitals have had it on hand for decades for its ability to draw toxins.

Perhaps you'd like to try a small poultice, outside, over the spot that gives you trouble.

The skin is a marvelous organ of both absorption and adsorption.

Good luck!
