Re: Citrus Industry Could be Wiped Out

Instead of relying on many "natural" and local varieties of a particular crop as we should, the agriculture industry globally embraced monoculture, which exacerbates the problem. Agricultural Science was well aware of the dangers a long time ago... however the $$$ signs and an unrealistic faith in Science coming to the rescue has opened the door wider to things like this; it is not just citrus, but also many other crops that are monocultured like bananas.

Livestock is not immune either...

I think in Brazil 85% of their citrus crop is now currently susceptible to this "sudden death".

man's folly thinking he can do it better than ma nature... as crops become ever weaker and weaker (less nutritional as well) and increasingly become even less tolerant of virus\bacteria\insect "bugs" due to the continuous use of pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers etc. along with allowing land to remain fallow periodically... we will see more and more of this.

payday is fast approaching.
