Cured but now have other problem

So I have had this problem for about 1 yr. I tried protopic and the peeling and hard skin has stopped. my only concern is that once i discontinue it, the peeling will start again. The other thing is that now that the peeling has stopped the skin that grew back that used to peel looks different that the rest of the skin on my lips. At times you can see a clear difference. Does anyone else have this problem?
