Re: Type 2 bipolar and Omega 3 interactions
I wouldn't presume to advise you on drug and herb interactions. If you google "drug interactions", a few sites will come up. Use one of them. You enter all the meds you are taking along with any herbal supplements. (However, I've noticed that the sites don't list all herbs.) Once you've entered everything, the site will tell you if there are any negative interactions. As for cinnamon--I take it but recently, Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld wrote an article for "Parade" magazine in which he said that it's now believed that cinnamon doesn't help for type 2 diabetes. However, he also said that he saw no harm in continuing to use it.
I've been looking into herbal supplements to help with type 2 diabetes. Recently, on the advice of poster "northstar" I've started drinking Milagro de la Selva tea. Also, I'm taking gymnema sylvestre, grapeseed extract and prickly pear cactus. I get my blood
Sugar tested in about 1 month so I'm curious to see if anything has helped. I've discovered how important it is to research herbal supplements. For example, bitter melon and fenugreek are recommend for lowering blood sugar. However, I won't take them because one of their side effects is loose stools. Since I have IBS with diarrhea, I don't need to take herbs with those side effects.
You're right--don't abruptly go off your meds. In fact, the makers of Milagro de la Selva tell people to continue to take their diabetes meds while using the tea. Let your doctor decide if you can go off the meds or decrease the amount.
