Re: --BSM 1st posted by archus-- BSM to counteract white sugar
"While molasses should never be used as a crutch, some of the deleterious effects
of cane sugar (which is sometimes unavoidable - especially when dining with
friends) may be partly overcome by taking molasses soon after eating refined
cane sugar. This provides the body with the nutritive elements that are lacking
in cane sugar and helps to ward off some of the negative effects of cane sugar."
good thought. 'specially since refined sugar suppresses the immune system for I forget how many hours. I almost never bake anymore, but when I do, I use BSM, just because I like it. It makes the best old-fashioned gingerbread -my mother used to make it with Keen's dry mustard (which is hot!).
Now we know why we liked gingerbread so much. of course it wasn't cake, it was food in the way of Nature: let your food be your medicine; your medicine your food.
