Re:

Unforunately some of those rockers from the 60's were too far gone to even try to give off the appearance of normality to their kids. A lot of their kids seem to have turned out all right, some didn't. While alcohol excess of any sort is not good for the body, I think drinking the hard stuff has got to be worse for you then beer. Probably harder for the liver to detoxify such a strong concentration of alcohol. Pigpen of the Grateful Dead died in his late 20's from cirrohsis of the liver after consuming a couple of bottles of Southern Comfort a day for a number of years. The Who were some of the biggest boozers around and never drank any beer, usually sticking to massive amounts of Brandy and Cognac. Ron Wood had to have his nose rebuilt in the mid 70's from all of his cocaine abuse, as did Stevie Nicks I believe. I followed the Ron Wood drama as it was unfolding. It wasn't front page news here in the States but it was over in the UK and Europe. It was pretty sad. Most people believe his relationship with the waitress was more then platonic, and his family and friends were pleading with him to come out of his Irish estate and check into rehab. You know you are on tough times when Keith Richards is calling you to tell you to check into rehab because you have a substance abuse problem. His wife has said she plans on divorcing him.
